So far the outcomes of the project are as follows:

  1. The languages needs questionnaires have been prepared, distributed and analysed. All results have been presented in the form of a report and the most important results have been presented in a graphic form. Additionally an on-line version of the questionnaire has been designed.

  2. The project website has been designed to provide the information about the project objectives, work progress and outcomes. The aim is to promote the project among the target users as well as encourage all interested parties to cooperate with the partners during the process of the developing the course materials. The website’s address is www.esp-t.eu

  3. Methodological and cultural training developers for the ESP:T course have been organized. The training consisted of a series of lectures, workshops and discussions to agree on a common framework for the course in terms of its contents, pedagogy, IT solutions and relating the course to the market demands. The first lecture was given by Professor Marie Donaghy from Queen Margaret University who discussed the educational opportunities and standards for therapists in the UK (existing curriculum, qualifications framework, language requirements). The second lecture given by Michael Begg, eLearning Manager for the Learning Technology Section at the University of Edinburgh. The lecture focused on the issues of creating a virtual environment for students and practical aspects of e-learning in the university setting. The third lecture was given by Tony Lynch – an experienced lecturer of English for Academic Purposes who discussed the different aspects of using the audio and video materials for developing pedagogical activities.

The workshops and discussions covered such areas as pedagogy, which should be applied for the whole course, the proper use of the authentic materials, case study presentations, developing real-to-life tasks and the use of IT solutions for developing pedagogical activities.

  1. Forum for the exchange of the ideas and evaluation of the developed materials was developed to faciliatate communication between the project partners.

  2. Audio-visual materials have been recorded for the modules to serve the basis for developing pedagogical activities.

  3. FTP server was adopted to allow material designers to place all the developed materials there including big size files such as audio and video materials and photos.

  4. The course materials have been developed and presented in the templates which were used to transform the materials into the e-learning platform.

  5. These course materials which are to be accessible on non-commerical basis for all interested parties have been implemented on the e-learning platform.

  6. Promotional materials such as ESP-T calendars, brochures and posters were produced and distributed on numerous dissemination events.
